Spotlight on Leah White’s Participation in Yo You Be Trippin
Leah White '18, Acting BFA, collaborated on the creation, production, and performance of the play Yo You Be Trippin’ which was performed at the Charm Ciry Fringe Festival in November. The play examined different forms of hallucination and LSD, both how it is understood and how it can be used, and the way drugs are regulated in America. The play was written, directed and performed by students with the mentorship of Dr. Alan Kreizenbeck. The collaborators spent hours researching the history of LSD, from its creation by Albert Hoffman the swiss scientist in 1938 through its popularization by Timothy Leary the American psychologist in the 1960s and 70s.
Leah was integral to each stage of the performance’s conception and actualization. She spent well over 100 hours on the play and was involved in every facet of its production and performance. Her fellow collaborators were: Shabhangi Kuchibhotla, Elizabeth Ung (also a member of the Honors College), Elizabeth Devine, Sydney Knoll, Ramon Burris, James Coley, Chad Short, Tobin Frevert, and Dr. Alan Kreizenbeck.
The play was well received at the Charm City Fringe Festival where it was performed for the first time. It was even featured by WYPR’s On the Record with Sheila Kast as a highlight of the festival.
