Honors College Students Testify at MD House of Delegates

On Friday, Feb 21, three UMBC Honors College Students represented the Shriver Center's Public Service Scholars Programs in front of the Maryland State House of Delegates.
Travis Bell (Political Science, Psychology), Christina Smith (Global Studies, Modern Languages and Linguistics) and Kaitlyn Golden (Psychology) testified in favor of BH536 in front of the Ways and Means Committee. HB536 proposes to expand the Walter Sondheim Jr. Public Service Summer Internship Scholarship Program from a summer program to one offered in Summer, Fall and Spring semesters. These students, all of whom are Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars, shared their experiences in public service, the value of these programs, and the need to grant year-round access to these programs for students across Maryland.
