Description

Please join us for this wonderful Lunch-in-the-Lounge fiction reading and discussion by our very own Norman Prentiss!

Dr. Prentiss will be reading from his upcoming book entitled Apocalypse-a-Day-Calendar, a collection of flash fiction stories that evolved from the "end-of-the-world scenarios" he imagined for each calendar day. The stories range from humorous to bizarre to unsettling, commemorating holiday and observance days (such as Valentine's Day and National Pig Day), famous birthdays (such as Robert Frost and Charles Dickens), or notable historical events (like the first computer...and the first computer virus). After a brief reading of his stories, he will talk about the process of writing them, and explain the benefits of self-imposed deadlines and unusual story-generating strategies.

Dr. Prentiss has authored Odd Adventures with your Other Father, Life in a Haunted House, The Fleshless Man (just to name a few) and many wonderfully scary short stories. He also received the Bram Stoker Award for his first book, Invisible Fences. Click this link to hear one of our more popular HONR 300 seminar instructors talk about his craft!
