Film Screening: "Counted Out"

A Community Wide Event

Location

Sherman Hall : Atrium

Date & Time

November 19, 2025, 5:00 pm7:30 pm

Description

Through a mosaic of personal stories, expert interviews, and scenes of math transformation in action, Counted Out shows what's at risk if we keep the mathematical status quo.

Do we want an America in which most of us don't consider ourselves "math people?" Where math proficiency goes down as students grow up? OR, do we want a country where everyone can understand the math that undergirds our society so more people can participate in shaping our future?

Dinner is provided, so please RSVP if you plan to attend. The screening starts at 5:30pm sharp, Sherman Hall Atrium.

Co-sponsored by the Sherman Center, the Honors College, the Shriver Center, the Office of Academic Opportunity Programs, the Center for Democracy and Civic Life, and the following departments: English, MCS, and Math/Statistics.
