So what’s next?
To us, discere ad vivendum is more than a motto. It’s the foundation for all we offer you. At the Honors College, you’ll find the best of both worlds – a small college experience at a first-class research university. You’ll take courses that challenge and stimulate you. You’ll work closely with your classmates and your faculty. You’ll flourish as a reader, writer, thinker, speaker, and researcher. And you’ll become an active member of our vibrant and diverse community at UMBC. Because that’s Learning for Living.
The Steps in the Process:
- Step 1: Accept Your Offer of Admission to UMBC
If you haven’t yet, please be sure to accept your offer of admission to UMBC (which you’ll do through your myUMBC account). - Step 2: Accept Your Honors College Admission

Our required Freshmen Honors Orientation, held in early June, is our first chance to get to know you. During this event, you’ll meet and connect with your fellow students and get priority registration for your fall semester classes–before any other new UMBC students. Registration opens in March, and you can sign up through your myUMBC account. We can’t wait to meet you!
