On February 21st, the Honors College Council (HCC) hosted its annual Charity Gala. Every spring, this event gives students a chance to take a break from classes while raising money for a nonprofit. This year’s theme, “A Night Under the Stars,” included a sit-down dinner, dancing, raffles, t-shirt giveaway, and performances.
While the students enjoyed their beautiful night under the stars, they also raised more than $2,000 for charity. All proceeds went to the Esperanza Center, “a resource center dedicated to welcoming immigrants by offering hope, compassionate services, and the power to improve their lives.” The center offers many support services to immigrants, and the students were proud to contribute to its mission.

A special shout-out to the Honors College Council’s Charity Gala Steering Committee, and Honors College Council members for organizing such a wonderful event.
We also want to thank HCC’s co-sponsors: Center for Women In Technology, Humanities Scholars Program, Linehan Artist Scholars Program, The Ronald E. McNair Post Baccalaureate Achievement (McNair Scholars) Program, Sherman Teacher Scholars Program, and Sondheim Public Affairs Scholars Program, for their support.
